Infant Family Associate
(IFA)

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE 

Any academic degree OR Child Development Associate (CDA) transcript/certificate OR

Two years infant-related paid work experience

TRAINING

30+ hours of competency based IMH Training

REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION

Recommended; not required

Infant Mental
Health Specialist
(IMHS)

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE

Master’s/Doctorate Degree AND at least 2 years post-graduate, supervised work experiences providing culturally sensitive, relationship-focused, IMH services

TRAINING

30+ hours of competency based IMH Training

REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION

50+ clock hours with a qualified RSC provider

Infant Family Specialist
(IFS)

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE

Any academic degree, including Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate OR a minimum 2 years IMH prevention and/or early invention paid work experience

TRAINING

30+ hours of competency based IMH Training

REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION

24+ clock hours with a qualified RSC provider

Infant Mental
Health Mentor 
Clinical, Research/Faculty, or Policy

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE

Master’s/Doctorate degree AND 3-years post-graduate experience as an IMH practice leader

TRAINING

30+ hours of competency based IMH Training

REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION

Clinical: 50+ clock hours with a qualified RSC provider AND 25 hours providing RSC

Policy and Research/Faculty: Recommended; not required

The Florida Association for Infant Mental Health holds the sole license to offer the credential:

Endorsement for Culturally Relevant, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant and Early Childhood Mental Heath® in the state of Florida.
